wendy bradshaw-dIRECTOR AND sPECIAL iNSTRUCTION

Wendy Bradshaw has a doctorate in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in special education from the University of South Florida (2015). She also earned her Master of Arts from the University of South Florida (2006) in special education with a concentration in behavior disorders. She earned her undergraduate degree (2003) in preschool/primary, elementary, and special education at Florida Southern College. Dr. Bradshaw has served in multiple roles in the field of education, including preschool and elementary teacher, early interventionist, and college instructor. She co-founded R School after leaving the public school setting so that she could create a place for children to learn to love learning utilizing the 'whole child' approach and grounded in research on child development and learning. 

Joy Currier-INtermediate pRIMARY tEACHER

Joy graduated from St. Leo University with an AA degree, then Florida Southern College, with a BS in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career in Polk County Public Schools and has taught there 33 years. Joy has taught First, Second, and Third Grades, as well as Multiage 1st-2nd. In addition to teaching, Joy devotes many after school hours and summers tutoring students in reading. She is trained in the Wilson Reading System, designed to meet the needs of struggling readers. She is the mother of one son and one daughter, and the grandmother of two grandchildren. She is very excited to be teaching the Lower Primary class at Winter Haven R School. Joy is excited to be back in the Multiage approach to teaching and learning. She knows this is the environment where ALL children learn well.
 

Debbie Price-Lower pRIMARY tEACHER

Debbie graduated from Belhaven University, in Jackson, Mississippi, with a BS in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood. She taught the first four years in private schools both in Mississippi and Florida, teaching Fourth Grade, then entered Orange County Schools where she taught Kindergarten for two years. She and her husband, Brett, moved home to Winter Haven in 1987 and Debbie began a 31 year career in Polk County Schools.  She taught  Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, and Multiage 1st-2nd. In addition to teaching, Debbie devotes many after school hours and summers tutoring students in reading. She is trained in the Wilson Reading System, designed to meet the needs of struggling readers. She is the mother of three sons, one daughter in law, and has one grandson. She is very excited to be teaching the Lower Primary class at Winter Haven R School! Debbie believes the years she spent teaching Multiage classes were the best of her career and is excited to be back in that environment where all children learn “where they are”.
