Gardening & Woodworking

Using our hands to create is one of the best ways to learn! This session, students will work on projects, including a bat house, hanging bird feeder, and small wall-hanging planter. (These items will be taken home at the end of the 9 weeks). We will also look at soil conditions in our efforts to amend and optimize the conditions for growing fall crops. Students will explore spacing and plot planning, which will enhance both knowledge of the topic and critical thinking skills. Additionally, students will research the nutrient and watering needs of each plant as we take seedlings and maintain them through the growing season. Hopefully, we will have a harvest to celebrate by the end of the term!
